We Believe That Dogs Are People Too!

Our Mission

Our dogs love us no matter what. They comfort us on a bad day. They play with us on a good day. If we make a mistake, an hour later they have forgotten all about it. When we return home, they greet us with intense love as if we have been gone for 5 years even though it was 5 minutes. There is a lot we can learn from dogs.

Our goal is to create better products that offer more value. We support you because you support animals too. We create original art on products to celebrate those who own dogs, work like dogs, and love dogs. Every purchase you make supports animal adoption and care.

“Turned out that I preferred to sleep out in the dog barn with the 20 dogs than sleep in the house in a bedroom.”

I have created art, graphics, effects, and ad campaigns for companies for over 38 years. A picture is worth 1,000 words and websites and ads prove this to be true. I love the whole process of brainstorming an idea, and then creating the art that brings that idea to life. The only thing I like as much as art and creativity is animals. The endless egos of corporate clients, the constant wrestling match of direct contacts approving a campaign only to have “higher-ups” reject it, got tiresome. I was ready for a break.

In 2019 a friend asked me to help her at her ranch where she breeds French Bulldogs. Turned out that I preferred to sleep out in the dog barn with the 20 dogs than sleep in the house in a bedroom. My many years in creative, design, and marketing enabled me to produce the website, videos, graphics, and other material to share with the world.

But while the dogs were treated like family, I still hated the idea of the whole unnatural process of artificial insemination, numerous doctor visits, and the inevitable cesarean section to get the babies out because French Bulldogs don’t have wide enough hips to give birth. Essentially these $5,000-12,000 dogs are a Frankenstein concoction of humans. But they are so cute.

In 2022 Another friend of 20+ years from my background in corporate graphic design/agency work asked me to come help grow his seven year old $2M annual revenue company. I redesigned the website, and leaning on past experience, put together a whole new corporate strategy to grow the company to $100M in revenue. The first investor was ready to sign and discussions with a private investor group looked great. But on the eve of a giant multi-million dollar contract with one of the largest automobile manufacturers in the world, the CEO got with the accountant and decided to “enhance” the company’s financials against my warnings. I had no choice but to quit.

While looking for my next adventure, in March of 2023 my wife and I got invited to a close friend’s wedding. We were looking for a nice but unique gift. We stopped by a local Utah store selling blankets that got good reviews. But when we walked through the store, all I saw was plain color or repeating pattern blankets wrapped in cheap plastic bags, as if freshly shipped in from China. And I really couldn’t believe the price tags! As much as $300 for one of these average looking blankets that I was sure I could buy on Amazon for $40.

I knew we could offer something better. And definitely provide more value.

I had been preparing to use my art experience to create some NFTs (a digital download of art that is registered on the Blockchain and has proof of authenticity and rarity – Google it if you want more info). An NFT can sell for up to $3,000 – $200,000 or more.  I thought, how cool would it be to create blankets with that same high-end art on blankets that we sell for less than  these average looking store blankets.

This is how the idea for Lap Dog Blankets was born.

We got really excited when we found a manufacturer in the USA that can provide Reversible printing so we can offer more value by featuring unique art on each side of a blanket making it like you get two blankets in one!
We use dye sublimation printing, rather than ink printing, so that colors are brighter and embedded into the fabric, for longer lasting and higher quality.

Like Linus on Peanuts cartoon, some people keep a treasured blanket for many years. We created art on quality blankets designed to be enjoyed for many many years. Wrap yourself in a fun, bold statement. Pick a blanket that fosters your creativity, or calms you for meditation. Wrap your favorite fur baby in a unique blanket. Or best of all, wrap yourself WITH your pup and enjoy quality time together.
